True Winter Characteristics

The first things you notice about True Winters is the high constant between their skin and hair. Their can be light brown to black hair with blue or red undertones.

Their eyes can black eyes, dark brown eyes, steely gray eyes, icy blue eyes, and bright blue eyes. At times a yellowness can be seen in the eyes that are blue, green, gray, or brown.

True Winter skin has clear cool, blue undertones, so silver looks good on it, but gold makes it look off.

True Color Palette

True Winter coloring combines coolness with brightness and high contrast. Therefore, the colors in its palette are also cool yet bright.

This color palette is filled with cool grays, icy blues, different shades of peacock blue, and a whole range of cool reds and pinks. You may also be able to pull off cool greens and purples, but it will take trial and error to find the right shades.

Choose eyeshadow colors from your palette. Frosted finishes or cool metallics typically look best. Avoid matte eyeshadows, which may look dull on you.

Your mascara should be black or matched to your natural hair color. Stay away from warm browns that clash with your cool appearance.

Eyeliner colors that flatter you include black, dark browns, dark greys, dark blues. Choose an eyeliner in a similar color to your eyes to bring them out.

Bronzer is not a makeup product designed for True Winters since its purpose is to bring out a golden warmth, which True Winters do not possess. Stay away from bronzers, as they will simply look off on you.

Blush and lip colors come from the pink, red and purple areas of the True Winter color palette. Avoid warm oranges and peach colors that will clash with your frosty appearance.

The best lip colors for True Winters are blue-based pinks and reds. Again, avoid warm oranges, yellow-based reds, brown tones and peachy pinks.

Jewelry

Because you have a completely cool undertone your best metals will be platinum or silver.  You may also be able to pull off a truly white gold.

You want smooth and polished metals. Avoid antiqued, matte, or brushed metals.

Diamonds, rubies, emeralds, sapphires, and pearls suit you best.

Denim For True Winters

True Winters look fantastic in black and dark navy denim.  They can also do a true cobalt blue denim that doesn’t have any fading or wear marks.

Sister Palettes

True Winter sits between Dark Winter i.e. Deep Winter and Bright Winter on the seasonal color chart, and is the original Winter season of the four seasons color analysis and is the ‘standard’ Winter palette.

As sister palettes, Dark Winter and Bright Winter both share True Winter’s aspects of cool and bright, so you can borrow some colors from your sister palettes since they are close enough to the True Winter color palette.

If you lean more towards Dark Winter, opt for the lighter colors on the Dark Winter palette, whereas if you lean more towards Bright Winter, select the less intense colors on the Bright Winter palette.

True Winter vs Deep Winter

Both Deep Winter and True Winter have cool undertones, but True Winter has no warm influence from the Autumn palette.

Dark Winter on the other hand has a slight influence of warmth in their undertone.

As a result, True Winters are very cool toned, while Dark Winters are cool-neutral and neutral toned, and True Winter colors are brighter, cooler and slightly lighter than those of Dark Winter.

True Winter vs Bright Winter

True Winter shares Bright Winter’s coolness and high contrast but lacks its added vibrancy and touches of The Spring family that Bright Winter has.

Compared to Bright Winter, True Winter is cooler, slightly darker and not quite as bright.

Bright Winter’s palette is more dynamic, influenced by Spring’s brightness and warmth, it has brighter, more vibrant, more saturated colors.

True Winter vs True Summer

Both True Winter and True Summer have cool undertones, True Winter is darker, more contrasted, and brighter than True Summer, which is lighter and softer.

Also, True Winter has a very high contrast between the features and appears crisp. Because of this, True Winters can wear black and they look better in deeper highly contrasting colors than True Summers do.

You can see differences are reflected in the two seasons’ color palettes as well. While True Winter’s colors are more darker, deeper, and saturated, True Summer’s colors are more muted, softer, and less bright.
