Bright Winter Color Palette

Bright Winter is one of the three Winter seasons and sits between True Winter and Bright Spring on the seasonal flow chart. Its features are saturated and bright with a crisp and clear appearance and its colors are vibrant.

Bright Winter isn’t as cool as True Winter, and has a neutral or cool-neutral undertone, True Winter has cold undertones.

Likewise, Bright Winter isn’t as warm as Bright Spring. While Bright Spring has neutral or warm-neutral undertones, Bright Winter has neutral and cool-neutral undertones.

Compared to the third Winter season Dark Winter, which has the same neutral-cool undertones, Bright Winters are lighter and brighter.

Bright Winter Characteristics

The first thing you notice about Bright Winter’s coloring is a very high contrast between your hair, skin, and eyes.

Bright Winter skin is either neutral or neutral-cool, so both silver and gold look good against it, but silver looks better. Some Bright Winters also have freckles.

Their eye colors are bright blue, green, or dark brown, and black. Their eyes are often strikingly clear and defined, and you may see a border defining iris and possible spokes on the iris.

Bright Winter’s hair can range from medium brown to black and can have either blue or ash undertones or be neutral.

Bright Winter with Dark Skin

You could be a Bright Winter even if you have dark skin. What is important is that your skin has neutral or cool-neutral undertones and contrasts with your hair and eyes.

While the woman in this picture has blue eyes, Bright Winter’s with dark skin could also have dark brown or black eyes.

I just couldn’t pass up using such a striking picture.

Color Palette

Bright Winter sits between Winter and Spring and combines brightness with coolness.

Like those of all Winter seasons, Bright Winter’s colors are mainly cool, dark, and bright. But Spring increases the brightness and warms up the colors slightly, creating the most intense, vibrant colors of all the seasons.

This palette is made up of vibrant colors with cool undertones that really make a Bright Winter Complexion shine.

Makeup

Bright Winter makeup colors are taken from the same color palette that is used for clothing.

Opt for a shimmery or frosted finish on eyeshadows, and avoid warm, yellow-based colors as well as muted colors and matte finishes.

Your best choice of mascara is black or very dark grey. Stay away from warm browns, which will clash with your cool appearance.

Choose an eyeliner in a similar color to your mascara. Ideally can be black, charcoal, navy.

Bright Winter lipsticks are colors like true red, hot pink, and fuchsia red. Satin, matte, or cream finishes are ideal for strong, clean lines.

While sheer colors often don’t pack enough punch for a typical Bright Winter, high shine glosses can work well.

Even though these colors may at first glance seem bold, they will look very natural on you and not at all attention-grabbing because they mimic the natural intensity of your appearance. Avoid dark colors, warm oranges and yellow-based reds, and nude lips.

Generally, Bright Winter blushes are a cool coral or reddish-pink color. Avoid overly warm oranges and peach colors.

Stay away from bronzers, as they will simply look off on you. If you want to add some highlights to your face, apply highlighter to your cheeks instead. It will add some shimmer without the golden tones of a bronzer.

Jewelry

Since Bright Winter coloring is neutral-cool, silver, white gold, and platinum are ideal for you. Some Bright Winters can also wear regular gold, as long as they are light and shiny.

Clear, high-saturation stones like diamonds, sapphires, emeralds, and amethysts are perfect for you.

Denim

Dark indigo or nearly black jeans, medium denim with cool undertones, charcoal gray jeans all look good on you.

You could also try a whitened light blue denim that is similar to your “icy blue” colors. But keep the contrast between the denim and top high so the outfit still packs a punch.

As long as you are avoiding warm and faded jeans that will look out of place next to your Bright Winter tops. Also, avoid distressed or overly faded denim.

Sister Palettes

Bright Winter sits between True Winter and Bright Spring and falls at the Spring end of the Winter palette.

As sister palettes, True Winter shares its coolness while and Bright Spring shares its brightness. Therefore, you can borrow some colors from your sister palettes since they are close enough to the Bright Winter color palette.

If you lean more towards True Winter, opt for the brighter colors on the True Winter palette. Whereas if you lean more towards Bright Spring, choose the cooler colors on the Bright Spring palette.

Bright Winter vs True Winter

Bright Spring and True Winter‘s colors are similarly bright, but True Winter’s colors cooler and slightly darker. Spring’s effect on Bright Winter adds some warmth to the palette, while brighting and somewhat lighten up the colors.

True Winter shares Bright Winter’s coolness and high contrast but lacks its added vibrancy and touches of spring.

Bright Winter’s palette is influenced by Spring’s energy, therefore its colors are brighter, lighter and warmer than those of True Winter.

Bright Winter vs Bright Spring

Bright Winters can be mistaken for Bright Springs, because Bright Winter and Bright Spring are both a blend of Spring and Winter. Also, both seasons have a very high contrast between the features and both have bright saturated colors.

However, Bright Winter has a neutral or cool-neutral skin tone, whereas Bright Spring has a neutral or warm-neutral skin tone. Bright Winters also tend to have a starker, harsher contrast than Bright Springs.

Bright Winter vs. Light Summer

Light Summer is characterized by softer contrasts and pastel-like tones, whereas Bright Winter has on bold, saturated hues.

Bright Winter’s blue, for example, would appear more vibrant and electric compared to the same shade in Light Summer.  Whereas Light Summer has a more cotton candy, ethereal vibe that will feel childish on a Bright Winter.
