Deep Winter Color Palette

The Deep Winter color palette, also known as the Dark Winter color palette, is the darkest palette in the winter family. It sits on the color wheal between True Winter and Deep Autumn, also known as Dark Autumn.

Winters have cool undertones and Autumns have warm undertones, and since Deep Winter sits between the two, it has cool leaning neutral undertones.

This means that Deep Winter primarily has cool deep colors and icy light colors, but it does have hints of warmth given to it given by Dark Autumn.

The defining characteristics of Deep Winter is that it has dark eyes and hair combined with a neutral-cool skin tone.

If you are a Dark Winter, then dark deep colors generally suit you better than light ones – though there are a few pastels that suit you well too. And, silver generally looks better on you than gold, but that may not be true if you have a neutral skin tone and a little warmth in your hair leaning you towards autumn.

In addition to your own color palette, because your color palette sits between True Winter and Dark or Deep Autumn, you can borrow colors from both palettes.

Deep Winter Characteristics

Dark Winters eyes are can be black, dark brown, very dark olive, dark hazel and possibly even a very deep, cool blue. And it is possible for the dark eyes to be warm in color.

Dark Winter also has dark hair ranging from medium brown all the way to black. You may find some resources that state that there will be no natural highlights in a Deep Winter. This is actually not the case. Often enough Deep Winter hair contains orange or red tones.

The skin is either cool-neutral or neutral. So, both gold and silver look good against it, but silver usually looks better.

Black and dark brown mascara really flatter your eyes.

Eyeliner are ideally black and dark brown. However, you may also look good in dark eggplant, deep pine, or Prussian blue. The most flattering eyeliner an eyeliner will be one similar to your eyelash color.

You can wear deeply intense colors and generally look best in deep red, deep berries, and purple shades. The color that looks best on you will depend largely on how dark your skin is.

Bronzer should generally be avoided for winters. However, if you are really interested in bronzer, choose one with red or purple pigments instead of orange or rust.

Highlights should be from the icy shades in your pallet including ice light gray, cool icy pink, or a light neutral champagne beige.

Denim for the Dark Winter

Dark blue wash and black jeans look best on you. Ideally, with topstitching matches the denim tone and isn’t in a contrasting color like orange or yellow.

However, you could get away with most washes, they just won’t be as flattering as the darker ones. And orange or yellow topstitching is fine, even if darker ones are more flattering.
