True Autumn Color Palette

True Autumn, also known as warm autumn, is the original autumn category in the four seasons color analysis.

It sits between the Dark Autumn (or deep autumn) and Soft Autumn (muted autumn) and opposite True Spring. Whereas True Spring is bright and fresh colors, the true autumn is warm, rich, and muted.

Autumn is a season of muted colors. However, the True Autumn colour palette overall appears rich and vibrant. The colors’ softness is only apparent when compared to a truly bright season, such as Spring.

True Autumn coloring combines warmth with softness. This season is warmest, most golden of Autumn palettes, so the colors are warm with a clear yellow undertone. There is not a hint of coolness in this palette.

The other two Autumn palettes are influenced by Summer and Winter, which are both cool palettes, and therefore are warm-neutral palettes unlike True Autumn which is purely warm.

True Autumn Characteristics

When looking at a True Autumn the first thing you notice is the warmth that radiates from every feature. Their skin, hair and eyes all have rich, golden undertones.

Unlike Dark Autumn, True Autumn has golden, warm undertones, with a lack of strong contrast between their hair, skin, and eyes.

Their eyes are rich and warm. The most common colors are warm green, olive green, dark hazel, light brown, amber, and golden brown, medium brown. They may also have swirling erratic borders around the pupil and dots on the iris.

Rare though possible are deep blue eyes with a teal cast and warm chocolate brown eyes are also possible and are most common with darker skin.

True Autumn hair ranges from golden blonde to dark golden brown and auburn. When exposed to the sun, their hair often develops highlights, which can be golden, caramel, bronze or rusty.

And their skin has obvious warm undertones. Skin tones range from fair to dark and they may have freckles. What’s most distinctive about the skin’s coloring is the bronzy or golden glow it emanates when paired with rich, warm colors.

True Autumns look great in gold, but silver makes it look off, and against true black, the skin may appear yellowish.

True Autumn with Darker Skin

True Autumn skin can be dark if it is warm, and while most of the time eyes aren’t dark, they can be a chocolate brown which is more common with darker skin tones.

However, since True Autumn hair ranges from golden blonde to dark golden brown and auburn. It is unlikely that the skin will be much darker than tan.

Mascaras in the deep brown or other brown shades. True black and charcoal shades are going to overpower your coloring, but you can try a deep olive green if you want something a little closer to black.

The best eyeliners for the true autumn are the dark coffee colors or dark forest greens.

Matte and creamy lipsticks typically work best for your season, as they don’t overpower your look like a high gloss could. Oranges, warm pinks, reds, and even some berry tones are best.

Bronzer looks very good on True Autumns and warm pink or coral blushes do too. You can also try an orangier tone blush or even a red-hued blush (if you’re darker-skinned). Just use a light hand when applying.

Avoid highlighters.
